PSME Chapter Presidents' Meeting and Strategic Planning

The Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME) national office held its Chapter Presidents's Meeting and Strategic Planning on December 5, 2011 at the Philippine Columbian Association. This was followed by its 2012 Christmas Party celebration in the evening at the Mandarin Hotel.

This year's PSME Chapter Presidents' Meeting and Strategic Planning was titled "PSME - Building Global Through Commitment, Treatment and Excellence" and aims to attain Global (i.e. ASME) standards in the coming years. The big hairy audacious goals (as it was presented) of the PSME National were grouped into five critical areas and each officer reported on their own Specific Action Plans to support this with inputs from the different chapter presidents.

Worth mentioning was the lecture by Ms. Beth Nasol from Roxas Holdings, regarding the "four disciplines of execution" of Stephen Covey. Especially interesting were the discussion on how sometimes goals gets lost in the "whirlwind" due to the people being busy in their regular jobs and this bears some similarity to being an officer of the PSME and then trying to balance our work and home life with different goals. And the first discipline, "Focus on the Wildly Important Goal" is a timely reminder especially for many of who has many goals. The third discipline, "Translate Lofty Goals into Specific Action" is also of utmost importance for our goals to become a reality.
